I’ve been covering the tech world for over a decade now,and I’m used to getting many emails from my followers asking for advice when it comes to buying devices to boost their productivity. I also get lots of questions about the gadgets I take with me when I travel. The portable 1TB My Passport SSD from WD combines both: it’s the best external SSD for travel and for work that allows you to boost your productivity.

I was pretty shocked when I got WD’s My Passport SSD (1TB): this is the smallest and lightest SSD I’ve ever had in my entire life. It’s so small that it perfectly fits in my pocket, a great advantage for those who are always on the go. Make no mistake – its size doesn’t have an impact in the performance: it transfers up to 1050MB/s.

When you travel and need to carry your files with you, having a device like WD’s My Passport SSD is important. My main tool to edit photo and video when I’m traveling around the world is my MacBook Air, which only has 128GB. I got this capacity on purpose: I wanted to be able to store all my photos and videos on an external device. I do all the edit work on my laptop but if I run out of space, I use WD’s My Passport SSD to deal with bigger productions. That’s when they transfer speeds play a key role.

Once I’m back home, I connect My Passport SSD from WD to my iMac and use the extra RAM to finish production with heavier files.

WD’s My Passport SSD is available at different capacities (up to 2TB), and you should also know that you have the ability to protect your files with password protection.

Last but not least, your external hard drive should always be resistant to all kinds of incidents, especially when you are traveling. Unfortunately, over the past week I had a couple of accidents where I dropped WD’s My Passport SSD and nothing happened: no scratches on the SSD and no damaged files thanks to its shock-resistant design (up to 6.5 feet).

If you are looking for a reliable SSD, have multiple computers and move around a lot, then I highly recommend WD’s My Passport SSD. I’ve been using Western Digital products for many years and they have never let me down.
